My Story

7th March 1988 just a few minutes after midnight I was born in Zalau, Romania. Even though it is part of Transylvania, I have nothing to do with Dracula! You are safe! :)

Somewhere around 2003 when I was 15 years old, that is exactly 20 years ago (time flies ), my mother thought of giving my father a video camera for his birthday. At that time digital devices were not yet available in Romania and all the images were shot on tape. Together with my mother I was the first to hold the camera to wrap it as a present. Even now I remember I was extremely excited to be able to hold a camera in my hand although if I think about it now it wasn't a high performance camera at all but for those times in Romania it was something very few people had.

That was the moment when I came to realize my true passion in this field. Photography and videography, I discovered, are realms where no matter how many challenges arise, I find the strength and energy to overcome them. When you have a genuine love for your craft, every problem becomes nothing more than the next step forward.

The years passed, and in 2008 I noticed a trend at coming-of-age parties (18th birthdays). At that time, I encountered this field for the second time and decided to buy my first digital camera—a Nikon D90 with a standard 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. I was very happy taking pictures of everything: leaves in the grass, trees, ants, birds, people on the street, and of course, I was photographing these coming-of-age parties (18th birthdays) for 85 RON (£15) per night. As a teenager, that amount was enough for me to get by from one week to the next in those days. 😀

In 2012, a friend, Mihai H., who was a TV Host for a Romanian traditional music show, encouraged me to go to a wedding with him. He as a Videographer and me as a Photographer! I was very nervous because I felt how big responsibility its to capture the important moments and to be able to deliver the photos that the couple would treasure for a lifetime.

Although I had no experience with weddings at all, I knew the schedule and, with my experience over the years at 18th birthday parties, I had get good skills.

The couple was pleased when I delivered the photos, and, of course, they recommended me further to their friends and family!

Since then, I saw the opportunity to become a wedding photographer and realised that you could actually make a living from this profession!

More coming soon ...
